GWCFRI’s Ian Blount receives Citizen of the Year Award from Pi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has named Ian Blount, GWCFRI’s Director of Policy and Research, as Citizen of the Year for 2022. This award recognizes local individuals and organizations that play a prominent role as an inspiration and positive influence in the lives of Black people in Greater Charlotte, North Carolina. The Pi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is responsible for taking on this monumental task and selecting outstanding citizens who are nominated by the public at large and previous Achievement Award winners.
Blount is honored to have received this prestigious award, as it represents his contributions to making a difference in the lives of Black people and humanity.
Nominees for the award are chosen based on several important areas:
- Documented service to the community and professional recognition
- Noteworthy achievements during the year in organizations
- Transcendence his or her profession or position and command widespread local and/or national influence among Black people?
- Impact on the lives, thinking and actions of large segments of the state’s and/or nation’s Black population
- Influential among the state’s and/or nation’s Black population and other groups whose policies and practices significantly affect the lives of large numbers of Black people of Greater Charlotte
- Honors or awards received from his or her own societies, organizations, profession, etc.
Blount’s passion and dedication to rigorous theoretical and applied research and consulting has led to numerous articles authored and published to serve the community.
